BORDENTOWN, NJ (May 18, 2025) — A body recovered from the Delaware River near the Bordentown Yacht Club Sunday evening may be connected to a boating accident reported last week in Trenton, according to local authorities.

Emergency responders were called to the area around 1 Farnsworth Avenue shortly before sunset after receiving reports of a body in the water. Upon arrival, police and fire personnel located the victim washed up against the yacht club’s docks.

One firefighter entered the water to assist with the safe recovery of the body, which was later transported from the scene under the supervision of law enforcement and emergency medical services.

Possible Connection to Trenton Boating Incident

Authorities at the scene indicated that the recovered body may be related to an ongoing investigation into a boating incident that occurred last week on the Delaware River near Trenton. Details surrounding that incident have not yet been made public, but investigators are actively working to confirm the identity of the deceased and determine if a link exists between the two events.

“We are investigating the possibility that this recovery is connected to the incident previously reported near Trenton,” said a law enforcement official familiar with the case. “We are awaiting identification and autopsy results.”

Identity Pending and Investigation Ongoing

As of Monday morning, the victim’s identity has not been released, and officials are withholding further information pending notification of the next of kin. An autopsy will be conducted by the Burlington County Medical Examiner’s Office to determine the cause and manner of death.

The recovery has prompted a joint investigation involving local police, fire departments, and marine units, along with regional agencies already involved in the earlier boating incident. Dive teams and river patrols have been active along the Delaware River throughout the past week, searching for individuals possibly involved in the earlier accident.

Community Reacts

The scene at the Bordentown Yacht Club, a popular spot along the river known for recreational boating and scenic views, drew the attention of several bystanders Sunday evening. While details remain limited, the recovery has raised concerns among local residents and river-goers about safety on the water, particularly during the start of the boating season.

Anyone with information related to this case or the prior boating incident is urged to contact investigators through the local police department or relevant river patrol agencies.
